Block-by-Block
In August 2024, Mayor Stephanie Terry’s administration launched their Block-by-Block program.
This community outreach program is designed to help Evansville neighborhoods remain safe and clean. During these events, volunteers from across the city gather to clean, pick up, and do yard work in the neighborhood of interest. Volunteers are given assignments to pick up trash, pull weeds, mow lawns, or anything else that needs to be done. Some volunteers spend their time doing community outreach, giving neighborhood residents information about resources and answering any questions they may have. Mayor Terry works with other city departments to determine which neighborhoods in Evansville have the greatest need for this kind of program.
In 2024, the city hosted two Block-by-Block neighborhood cleanups. During these events, volunteers were able to provide substantial services like heavy trash pick up and tree trimming to residents in the Jacobsville and Bellemeade Bayard Park areas.
In 2025, the Block-by-Block program will keep moving forward with a full year of Block-by-Block events beginning in March. These neighborhood cleanups are one way in which Mayor Terry aims to make city services more accessible for all residents. Not only does this improve the visual elements of the neighborhoods, but it also ensures that residents feel safe, seen, and heard in their city.
