Mission Statement:

"The Mental Health Court is dedicated to helping those whose mental health issues bring them into contact with the criminal justice system, oftentimes repeatedly."

The Mental Health Court came into Vanderburgh County in 2013, and has helped hundreds of participants get the treatment they needed. Vanderburgh County is now Indiana's third certified Mental Health Court. 

Who does the Mental Health Court serve?

The Mental Health Court serves those who have committed misdemeanor violations, or referrals of low-level, non-violent felony cases from Superior and Circuit Courts.

Is participation in Mental Health Court mandatory?

No, participation in Mental Health Court is completely voluntary. Applicants are screened to see if they are eligible for the program. Once accepted into the program, participants must plead guilty and agree to participate in whatever court-ordered treatment options are included in his/her sentence. 

When and Where is Mental Health Court?

Mental Health Court is held every Thursday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in Courtroom 101. The address to the Courthouse is 825 Sycamore Street, Evansville, IN 47708.
