2015-2035 Comprehensive Plan
The 2015-2035 Comprehensive Plan for Evansville and Vanderburgh County is the guide for decisions that relate to land use and the framework for the ongoing land use planning process. The intent is to guide growth in a manner that supports and reinforces the community qualities important to City and County residents. These qualities include employment and housing opportunities, safety and security, quality schools, neighborhoods with a strong sense of community, and a clean environment. All these amenities are important to our quality of life.
I-69 Gateway Plan
The Evansville-Vanderburgh County I-69 Gateway Subarea Plan encompasses the northeastern portion of Vanderburgh County to be affected by the I-69 Extension. This Subarea Plan provides recommendations for public improvements and appropriate private investment along the corridor, as well as protects natural features and the rural character that local residents enjoy. This plan compliments the Comprehensive Plan by being the more detailed guide for corridor development.
University Parkway Corridor Plan
University Parkway serves an important role in western Vanderburgh County. This route connects State Route 62, (Lloyd Expressway) and the University of Southern Indiana north to State Route 66, (Diamond Avenue). The area around the parkway being studied is bordered by State Road 66 to the north; State Road 62 to the south; Peerless Road and Church Road to the east; and the Vanderburgh/Posey County line to the west.
This plan addresses the location, type, quantity, and quality of land use and transportation along University Parkway. However, this study does not cover all the transportation issues within the area. The Lloyd Expressway (SR 62/66) Corridor Study, which occurred in tandem with the University Parkway Corridor Plan, addresses the Lloyd Expressway and University Parkway interchange.
Jacobsville Plan
The Jacobsville neighborhood is located just north of Downtown Evansville, Indiana. The area contains major employers such Deaconess Hospital and Berry Plastics; the North Main Business Corridor; and older residential areas. This Redevelopment Area Plan builds on the prior initiatives and takes into account on-going and future planned developments to create a unified vision for the Jacobsville study area. The Plan contains 8 Big Ideas that guide the effective implementation of the plan. One of these has been achieved through the adoption of an Overlay Zone that is aligned with the redevelopment vision.
Downtown Master Plan
The Downtown Evansville Master Plan Update identifies priorities for downtown improvements, policies and actions for the next five-to-seven-year investment cycle. It was initiated in mid-2015 by the Evansville Redevelopment Commission (ERC). The plan defines several zones of emphasis and investment including the IU Medical Campus.
