Department HomeEmerald Ash Borer
The EMERALD ASH BORER (EAB) is a non-native, highly invasive pest killing Ash trees across America.
AND IT IS NOW IN EVANSVILLE AND SPREADING
On Private Property
If you have an Ash tree on your property, you should take action before it becomes infested, and decide:
- If it’s worth saving - have a Certified Arborist look at the tree to determine if it is a healthy and structurally sound tree.
- If want to save it - the cost of removing the tree may be more expensive than treating the tree for 10 or more years.
Here is a guide to help making that decision - Decision Guide
If you decide to protect the Ash tree, NOW would be the time to start treating it. Once trees are infested it will likely be too late to save them. To help property owners understand what treatment options are available you can refer to the Insecticide Options guide.
Call or email the department if you would like a Certified Arborist to assess your tree AND your property is in Evansville.
