METS through the City of Evansville is an equal opportunity employer.  The City is committed to ensuring a workplace free from unlawful discrimination and harassment, and fostering a work environment that fully utilizes the talents and capabilities of every employee at all organizational levels.

The City of Evansville is committed to providing equal opportunities for all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, creed, gender, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, genetic information, or covered veteran’s status. Furthermore, municipal code 2.30.010 states that it is unlawful for any person to discriminate with respect to hiring, compensation, terms, conditions or privileges of employment based on race, sex, color, religion, disability, ancestry, national origin, place of birth, age, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Any employee or applicant that has reason to believe that they have been discriminated against, can contact the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Human Relations Commission to file a complaint of discrimination within 90 days after the alleged discriminatory practice.  Complaints alleging employment discrimination against employers with fifteen or more employees must be filed within 300 days of the last alleged date of harm. Complaints filed with the Commission within the 300-day filing requirement may be subsequently transferred to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for processing if such complaints are received by the Commission after 90 days of the last alleged date of harm. This prolonged 300-day filing rule is a requirement of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which designates the entire state of Indiana as a deferral jurisdiction, meaning a jurisdiction authorized to enforce Title VII related federal statutes. Within 20 days of receipt of a complaint, the Human Relations Commission Director shall initiate an investigation of the alleged discriminatory practice charged in the complaint.  If upon investigation of the complaint the Director or the Reviewing Commission find that the complaint should be heard, an adversary public hearing of the issued raised in the complaint shall be heard.
