The Solid Waste District conducts a tire recycling program each year for the residents of Vanderburgh County.  This program provides an environmentally proper method of disposal of used tires so that they are kept out of the landfill and are not illegally dumped.  Automobile and light truck tires are accepted at this recycling event.  Semi or tractor tires are not accepted.  Tires from businesses are also not accepted.  The District accepts tires from neighborhood associations and other civic groups who collect unwanted tires from alleys, roadsides and ditches.

The 2024 tire collection will be held at our Fall Tox-Away Day on Saturday, September 7 from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. in the Civic Center parking lot at Walnut and 9th Streets.
