EMA Planning Division
The Planning Division of the Emergency Management Agency meets the requirements of Indiana Code Title 10.
IC 10-4-1-10(j) states," Each local or inter jurisdictional agency shall prepare and keep current a local or interjurisdictional disaster emergency plan for its area."
Emergency Management Agency Planning Task Force
The Emergency Management Agency convenes planning task forces to develop, review, and maintain the "City of Evansville/Vanderburgh County Emergency Operations Plan."This plan is our "instruction book". It tells us what to do in an emergency or disaster.
Just like schools and business have fire and tornado drills, we plan and hold drills and exercises to test our Emergency Operations Plan and to help our Police, Fire, and other officials practice what they would do in a real emergency.
The Emergency Management Agency Does not do this alone! This is where the Planning Task Force concept comes in to play.
Each specific area has its own task force. The staff of the EMA can not write a plan for the police or the Fire Departments. With the use of the task forces, the experts develop plans for their specialties.
Previous task forces include:
- Law Enforcement
- Fire Service
- Public Works and Utilities
- Communications and Warning
- Ohio River
- Health and Medical
- Terrorism
- Animal Health and Safety
Examples of Existing Plans:
- CEMP - Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan
- Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan
- EAP - Emergency Action Plan
The Emergency Operations Planning Task Forces meet every two years or as needed. If you are interested in participating in the process, please contact the Emergency Management Agency.
