Mayor Lloyd Winnecke is pleased to announce that Energize Evansville will partner again with the Deaconess Healthier U Walks for three special fitness workouts this summer. The first Energize Evansville and Healthier U Walk will be held at Sunset Park this Saturday, April 15, from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunset Park is located near Veterans Memorial Parkway and Waterworks Road.
The free fitness session will begin with the Deaconess Healthier U Walk at 9 a.m. A Deaconess medical representative will be present to share information with walkers about joint and bone care. The Energize Evansville workout will begin at 10 a.m., with Master Trainer Atlas Allen offering conditioning exercises for walkers. The Evansville Parks Department will offer a one-month free pass to Swonder Fitness Center as an incentive prize. The winner will be selected in a random drawing at the end of the workout and must be present to win.
The next Energize Evansville free exercise session will be held on May 20 at the Evansville State Hospital grounds, 3400 Lincoln Avenue. The session will feature another Deaconess Healthier U Walk at 9 a.m. followed by Pushups for Charity at 10 a.m. A medical representative from Deaconess Primary Stroke Center will be available to share information. Energize Evansville is a health and fitness program launched by Mayor Winnecke as part of a community health initiative to give individuals support to transform their lives through physical activity. The program is held on the third Saturday of each month from 9 to 11 a.m. at a different city park or venue and features local fitness experts leading group exercises for all ages.
