New Construction

Construction has begun on Phase 5 of the Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage - Industrial Corridor.  Crews from Blankenberger Brothers Inc. are working under the Kratzville Road Bridge which will extend the recently completed section from the Uhlhorn Trailhead. to Dresden Street.    Another crew from Concrete Pavers has stared at the Dresden Street end puting in a retaning wall for the levee.  Despite the winter weather, workers are making progress as can be seen in the pictures below.  This section of the Greenway Passage is being funded by a Transportation Community System Preservation grant, Surface Transportation Program funds and Riverboat Taxes.  The completion date will be December 2010 and will create a 3 mile trail to the Heidelbach Canoe Launch.

Phase 2 bids were received by INDOT and the low bidder was Blankenberg Brothers, Inc. for $1,730,419.  Phase 2 will extend the Greenway Passage from Franklin Street to Maryland Street.  This phase will connect with the Riverfront Corridor for approximately 3 miles to Sunrise Park.  Funding for this project comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestement Act or Stimulus Funds and will be paid in all by INDOT.  The completion for this trail is set for June 2011.

For the first time, we will have two sections of the Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage underconstruction at the same time.  The remaining 1/2 mile from Maryland Street to Dresden Street is being designed and ready for any possible federal funding available.    Click on this link for a new map for the
Industrial Corridor.
