Fares & Passes Information

Base Fare

Student Fare

$1.00 per ride on regular routes METS and children age 5 and under ride free when accompanied by a paying adult (limit of 3 free children per adult)

All students attending school in the METS service area in grades K through 12 and any student attending a state accredited college (with proper ID) may purchase student tickets for 75 cents each.  Student tickets are available at METS office or in Room 321 in the Civic Center Complex . These tickets are non-transferable and must be used by students only.

Bus Tokens

METS is now offering an unlimited monthly pass for your convenience.  This pass will run the 1st through the 31st of every month for a cost of $60.  For more information call METS at 435-6166.


If you have your picture on file at METS office you may order your pass through the mail using the form below or it may be purchased in Room 321 in the Civic Center Complex between the hours of 8am and 4:45pm.

Various non-profit organizations may purchase METS bus tokens at the METS office at a discounted rate of 85 cents per token, with a minimum of twenty (20) tokens per purchase.   Proof of Non-Profit status will be required.

As a convience tokens may also be purchased by individuals at the rate of $1.00 per token.  This may be done at 601 John Street between the hours of 8AM-3:45PM Mon-Fri or in Room 321 in the Civic Center Complex between the hours of 8am and 4:45pm. (Excluding Holidays)


Elderly, Disabled and Medicare Card Holders

One free transfer may be issued with each fare paid, this includes the use of a token or pass, and is
to be used ONLY for continuing a trip on another route.


Things you should know about transfers:

  • A transfer is good only on the date of issue.

  • A transfer must be used by the person to whom it was issued.

  • A transfer must be used for the next immediate transfer opportunity.

  • A transfer may only be used at transfer stations (ask your METS operator for details).

  • A transfer shall not be used for a round trip.

  • A transfer will only be issued at the time the fare is paid.

  • If there is an issue  with a transfer:

    1. Pay the fare.

    2. Ask the operator to sign and date your transfer.

    3. Contact the METS Customer Service Department at 435-6166

Senior citizens, disabled riders and medicare card holders may ride for a reduced fare of .50 cents.  (1 of the 3 forms of ID listed below are requred to receive ID needed for this fare.)  

  • Current State Issued Photo ID showing proof of age being over 65.

  • Medicare card (Paper RED,WHITE, BLUE not plastic) & Current State Issued Photo ID

  • Statement from Social Security that you are receiving Disability Payments & Current State Issued Photo ID

    Additionally, senior citizens age 60+ are also eligible for T.R.I.P. program tickets which are good for any time of day.  Contact SWIRCA office at 464-7800 for details. 

    METS Mobility service offers door-to-door service for eligible passengers.  Mobility service is available during the same hours as our fixed route services an application must be filled out and approved prior to calling for this service.  Call METS Mobility at 435-6188 or click here for details.
